What is Design?
Design is a career stream that candidates pursue at undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) or doctorate (PhD) level to become designers. Design as a career is extremely popular among students having a creative flair. What makes design careers even better is that this stream is vast and offers ample opportunities to students with different talents, skills and educational background.
To pursue a design course, no subject is mandatory. This means that candidates from any educational background have the liberty to pursue their dream career if they have the required skills and aptitude. Candidates can pursue UG, PG and PhD design courses in a range of specialised fields such as fashion design, interior design, graphic design, web design, textile design, apparel design, jewellery design, industrial design, product design, furniture design, and the list continues.

Design Eligibility & Entrance Exams
Basic eligibility criteria for design courses offered at UG and PG levels is mentioned below UG Design Courses: Candidates can secure admission in a UG level design course if they have completed 10+2 from a recognised board with passing marks. Aspirants from any stream (Science/ Commerce/ Arts) are eligible to apply for admission in a UG design course.
PG Design Courses: To secure admission in a PG level design course, candidates should have completed graduation from a recognised college/ institute. It may be noted that for PG level admissions, most colleges prefer graduates with a bachelor’s degree in design stream only. However, aspirants from other streams are also sometimes eligible to apply for admission in a PG design course if they possess the required skill-set and aptitude.

When can You start Preparing for Design Entrance Exam
It is critical that you do well in both - your 12th standard board exam and the DESIGN Test. So you can complete the DESIGN Test syllabus before you get into your 12th Standard Exam.
Your preparation depends on how much time you have before you take the DESIGN Test. At Sun Design guru, we always recommend that you start early.
If you are in the 10th Standard:
You could take the 2 year preparation course where you will go through the foundation program and be given multiple levels of exercises of varying intensities covering all topics.
You will be free to do this at your own pace and assimilate all the concepts being taught.
The most significant advantage is that you can balance your studies, extra-curricular activities and the DESIGN test
If you are in the 11th Standard or starting your 12th standard:
You could take the 1 year preparation course where you will go through all the topics that are required for the DESIGN Test. Additionally; you will be and be given multiple assignments of varying difficulty levels.
In the 11th / 12th standard, your focus on your academics is extremely important. Your preparation for DESIGN must be balanced along with your studies. With the 1 year preparation package, You will be able to prepare for the DESIGN Test throughout the year. You will also have the time to absorb all the concepts being taught.
Ideally, you should answer the DESIGN Test before you get into the 12th standard.
If you have completed your 12th Standard:
Once you complete your 12th standard, students are burdened with Common Entrance Tests (CET) and deadlines to submit their DESIGN Score Cards to counseling authorities. Hence, there is limited time for preparation. Understanding these limitations, Sun Design guru has created programs for you to still score 120+ !
You could take the 2 week or 1 month Course where you will go through all the topics that are required for the DESIGN Test within the time constraints that you have. Additionally, you will be and be given assignments based on the topics that you have covered.

Career Aptitude Test & Design Aptitude Test for Career Guidance
Career after 12 th standard is full of choices. In such condition, from among all the fields you are good at, you need to figure out what will suit you the most when it comes to building a career. We recommend students to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, liking, aptitude and interests before opting for a career. Majority of the parents have a bent towards the traditional career options such as medical, finance,engineering etc. Today the field of designing is also having good placements and income just like any other field such as engineering, medical, financial planning and so on. Today, Product/Transportation Design, Fashion Design, Communication Design, Animation, Architecture etc. have emerged as some of the top careers of 21st century A fresh design graduate today can take home from Rs. 12 lacs per annum to 72 lakhs per annum. Before opting for a design career one needs to check if he/ she has right aptitude to go in for a design career. But, the Psychometric tests available today do not check creative aptitude and as such fail to help in counseling student in taking up a design career. We at SUN DESIGN GURU have created a Special ‘Design Aptitude Test’, to overcome this problem.
Our design team has designed two different tests:
15 minutes Design Aptitude test: This test that will help us know the creative potential of the student and will give a precise report that whether he/she can take up designing as a career option.
90 minutes Career Aptitude test: This test will help the student to decide which design field will be best for him/ her from among the 40 different design career options such as Fashion, product, transportation, communication, animation and many more.
The aptitude test can be taken by class IX, X, XI and XII students as well as graduating students looking to pursue a post-graduation in design. Test can be taken at any of our centers with prior appointment.
